Behind the Magic of “Mystère” by Cirque du Soleil

Step into the enchanting world of Mystère by Cirque du Soleil at Treasure Island in Las Vegas. Debuting in 1993, it’s the longest-running Cirque residency on the Strip – over 30 years of timeless wonder! Mystère blends jaw-dropping acrobatics, whimsical clowning, vibrant costumes, and a dreamlike story that defies time and space.

Backstage is a whirlwind of creativity. The theater boasts a 82-foot-high stage with massive aerial rigs: flying trapezes, ropes, rings, and the iconic giant “Baby” that descends from above! Over 70 performers –  acrobats, contortionists,  swing artists – rehearse relentlessly to nail high-risk acts, some soaring 50 feet without obvious safety nets.

Costumes are a highlight: over 200 elaborate outfits, some weighing up to 20 pounds, crafted from flexible, durable fabrics. Makeup takes 45 minutes per artist, and the tech crew handles precise LED lighting and an original soundtrack fusing ethnic percussion with futuristic sounds.

A fan-favorite secret: the “Baby” character is operated by a hidden team that makes it “birth” and interact with the audience – guaranteed laughs from kids and adults alike! Performers train daily in a dedicated gym to keep their Olympic-level fitness.

Mystère is pure spectacle magic, perfect for families and Cirque lovers. If you’re in Vegas, catch it – tickets on the Cirque du Soleil site or at the theater.
